As the cold winter begins to sweep in the Coast, we at Pelican Sands Resort are prepping up for the hottest event this season with the inaugural Cooly Rocks On Festival.
Holiday guests at our Tugun holiday accommodation will definitely enjoy the programs lined up on this year’s Cooly Rocks On. Taking place on 3-13 June 2011 at the scenic Coolangatta – Tweed Heads region, Cooly Rocks On will showcase amazing nostalgia car spectacle, outstanding musical performances from the best rockabilly, swing music and rock ‘n’roll bands, colourful parades and other exciting competitions.
Cooly Rocks On will display over 800 hottest classic cars and hot rods during the Show 'n' Shine and Shannon Super Cruise. You’ll drool over some of the most awesome rides that will be on exhibit at Show 'n' Shine. Nostalgia cars and vintage motorcycles will be paraded around town at the Shannon Super Cruise.
The Festival will also feature over 50 rock ‘n’ roll bands and musicians that will provide the lively soundtrack for the entire event. Dirty Boogie Band, The Rockafellaz, Flattrakkers, The Velvet Set, Flying Saucers, West Texas Crude, Dean Vegas, Round Mountain Girls, Deejay Jimmy Dee, and The Headliners are just some of the bands included on the extensive musician line up for this year’s Festival.
Apart from tremendous car exhibits and amazing musical performances, there will also be exciting competitions and workshops at the Festival. Holiday makers at our Gold Coast family apartments can get their groove on at the dance workshops after which, you can join in World Freestyle Rock 'N' Roll & Swing Championship. Cooly Rocks On will also host the 17th annual Queensland Old Mal Championships wherein contestants will be riding the waves with the original Australian pre-1968 surfboards that are over 9 foot long.
